Dear Sakai Families,
This weekend was a nice welcome to spring with some sunny days and now our Cherry Trees are beginning to bloom. When our largest tree blooms, we will celebrate Hanami, which for me is the best sign that spring is here. Another sign of spring, our annual Talent Show, is happening this Friday at 6:30. Everyone is welcome to come watch; however, students must be accompanied by an adult. We hope to see you on Friday!
Fifth-grade families, your students have heard presentations of their music choices for next year, Band or Choir. Now, it’s time for them to make a decision. Please complete the Form below by April 3rd. For your reference, the program descriptions are reshared as well.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our music directors:
-
Band: Paul Meehan (pmeehan@bisd303.org)
-
Choir: Katie Gibbs (kgibbs@bisd303.org)
Have a wonderful week, Sakai!

March is Women's History Month and we're on a mission at Sakai to recognize the women in our community who are making history at this very moment! They can be mothers, grandmothers, aunties, siblings, cousins, or friends. Show us the great ways that women in your life are demonstrating how women can BE and DO ANYTHING! Download the attached template, fill in the "banner" with an accomplishment, characteristic, skill, hobby, or profession, then snap a photo and send it to dcrandall@bisd303.org by Friday, March 27th. We will compile them all and show them on the Broadcast.

PTO is looking for a few volunteers to help out with Popcorn Day on Friday. March 27th!
Game Room Volunteers for March/April
We would like to provide a game room alternative during lunch recess! Game Room will be available during recess on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. We would love one parent volunteer to supervise each of these. Please sign up for the available slots if you are able.

This spring, our schools are focusing on “Spring Into Attendance”—a positive reminder that growth happens when students show up. Each day in school helps students build skills, strengthen connections, and continue blooming academically and socially.
Just like plants need consistent care to grow, students thrive with consistent attendance. Arriving at school on time and ready to start the day is just as important, helping students begin the morning with their classmates and not miss important learning time. Showing up each day and being on time supports learning, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging.
Together, we can help our students grow, learn, and bloom this spring! 🌱
