Welcome to 5th grade! I'm Ms. Rose and I love teaching at Sakai. My two kids, partner Charlie, and I love living on Bainbridge Island. We also love our two herding dogs (actually, they're both herding breeds but have never officially herded anything), Italian food, hiking, watching comedies, and books. I grew up in the Bay Area and rode horses my entire childhood. I served in the Peace Corps in Guatemala and worked in New York City and Seattle in the nonprofit world for 20 years before becoming a teacher.

Teaching 10 and 11-year-olds is joyful. It is an exciting moment in human development with so many important, interesting, and curious things happening physically, socially, and academically. We will all learn more about ourselves and the world around us through reading, writing, and talking about our ideas in my ELA class.

I hold a BA from Colby College, an MPH from NYU, and a Masters in Teaching from UW.
