Hello! My name is Katie Gibbs. I teach General Music and run the middle school choral programs. I grew up on Bainbridge Island and was part of Sakai's first class of 6th graders in 1999. It is truly a joy to work in the district that helped raise me.

I love to sing, play guitar and jam with my friends and family. When I am not making music, I love to hike, fly-fish, garden, cook and read fantasy series.

I received my Bachelors in Music and my Masters in Education from Portland State University in 2015. Since then, I have taught music and choir to K-12 students in Portland, Chicago and back home in BISD. I am primarily a singer. I have performed for my entire life, most notably with Josh Groban, Ara Lee, Amadee, Morten Lauridsen, Eriks Esenvalds, the Portland State Chamber Choir, the Oregon Repertory Singers and my brass funk band, River City Riot. I have also conducted many choirs, including the ORSYC: Expanding Voices Choir, Reynolds High School Chamber Choir, Portland State University Singers, the Kairos UCC Choir and the Mirabella Community Chorus. I am really looking forward to making music with my students this year!
