Dear Sakai Intermediate Families,

We are excited to have you at Sakai this year! For those of you returning to us, welcome back! For those of you new to our school, I think you will find Sakai an extraordinary place for your child to grow and learn.

My name is Drew Crandall and I am the principal of Sakai Intermediate School. I have been in education since 2001 as a principal, assistant principal, instructional coach, and teacher. My wife and I are originally from Michigan and moved to Bainbridge Island after living in Seattle for many years. We have two children in the Bainbridge Island School District, Porter and Olive. As a family, we enjoy camping, skiing, playing pickleball, cheering on the Sounders, and walking our dog, Juno. I love living on Bainbridge Island and getting the opportunity to serve our community.

I feel very fortunate to be working at Sakai with such a thoughtful, caring, and supportive staff, families, and students. At Sakai, our goal is to provide a caring and collaborative learning environment for your child. We take the responsibility of educating your student seriously and with great intention. Education is a partnership and I greatly look forward to working with you to ensure a high level of learning for your student this year. Your support is crucial to your student’s success.
