Principal's Message

Dear Sakai Families,

To our Veterans in the Sakai community—thank you. We are truly grateful for you.

Yesterday’s Sakai broadcast was especially meaningful. Our students and staff worked together to create a presentation honoring their family members who have served, or are currently serving, in the armed forces. It was a heartfelt tribute that highlighted both the pride and deep appreciation within our community.

While gratitude is something we hope to practice throughout the year, November offers an intentional opportunity to slow down and acknowledge the people who make a difference in our lives. Our Family Dare this week is to support your student in choosing someone they are thankful for and giving that person a phone call. Take a moment afterward to talk with your student about the experience and how it felt to share that appreciation.

I continue to feel grateful every day for our Bainbridge Island community and for the privilege of working alongside the students, families, and staff here at Sakai. Thank you, families, for your partnership and for entrusting us with your children.

Wishing you a wonderful week, Sakai.

Drew

Sakai Spirit

This month the following students were honored for outstanding spirit:

  • Lauren Duxbury
  • Eloise Harrison
  • Hudson Fallan
  • Beatrice Thwaites
  • Elairen Kyle

These students invited a friend to attend a pizza party with Mr. Crandall. Thank you to That's a Some Pizza and PTO for sponsoring our student incentive program. The nominations are made in reference to Sakai's Four R's: Responsible, Respectful, Reasonable, Reliable.

Recess Equipment Wishlist

If you have any gently used soccer or basketballs you’d like to donate, please consider donating them to Sakai. We could really use a few more for recess. You may drop them off in the office.

Thanks so much!

Emergency Alert System Test — Thursday, Nov. 13 at 5 p.m.

BISD will conduct a test of our emergency alert system on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 5 p.m.

This routine test helps ensure that we can quickly reach staff and families by phone, text, and email in the event of a real emergency or weather-related closure.

If you receive a message that day labeled “TEST MESSAGE”, no action is needed. It simply confirms that your contact information in ParentSquare is up to date and our system is functioning properly.

If you do not receive the test message, please check your ParentSquare settings or contact your school’s office to confirm your contact information.

To manage your settings in ParentSquare - please use this link:

Thank you for helping us make sure we can communicate quickly and effectively in any situation.

Thank you so much!!
