Hearing and Vision Screening

Vision and Hearing screens for all 5th grade students will be done on Wednesday, November 4th.

We do not routinely test 6th grade students but we can include them in the screening sessions by parent request.
If you want your 6th grade student included in the vision and/or hearing screening please let us know.

Vision Test: The vision test for 5th grade will be done by a SPOT Vision Screening tool.
Hearing Test: The hearing test consists of a routine screening with an Audiometer.

Parents will be notified if the school health screening results indicate that a healthcare provider follow-up is recommended.
If you do not want your child screened please let us know as soon as possible.

We welcome any questions you may have regarding this process or your child’s screening results. We are happy to help in any way.

Please feel free to contact the Sakai Health Room at (206) 780-6507, for any questions or concerns.

Thank you to our PTO and Volunteers!

Thank you to our PTO and all the volunteers who provided our staff with delicious food during conferences.

Our staff enjoyed the breakfast, soup lunch and snacks tremendously!

There are serving dishes in the office ready for pickup.

Art News

Fifth-grade artists at Sakai Intermediate School created ceramic tribute magnets honoring the memory of a cherished loved one or pet. Created in celebration of Día de los Muertos, these personal keepsakes will transition from gallery display to student lockers as a year-round reminder of love and connection.

Staying Conncected

Staying Connected

As you may have noticed, we recently updated our school websites to replace direct staff email addresses with secure contact forms. This change was an important step to boost our cybersecurity and protect our school networks from phishing attacks.

Because this is a new process this year, we want to make sure you always know the best way to get in touch with us!

  • To reach a teacher directly: Please use the secure contact forms located on our school’s staff directory page.
  • If you aren't sure who to contact: You can always use the main email address listed at the very bottom of our school’s homepage. This email goes directly to our main office managers, who will make sure your message is quickly forwarded to the exact right person.
Thank you for your patience as we transition to this more secure system, and for your continued partnership!

No-Miss November: Show Up, Step Up, Show Out!

November is the perfect time to strengthen attendance habits! As students become more independent, showing up every day and arriving on time builds responsibility, confidence, and stronger connections with friends and teachers.

Ready to Show Up and Show Out?
  • Stick to a consistent sleep and morning routine.
  • Get backpacks, homework, and supplies ready the night before.
  • Set an alarm and plan ahead to arrive on time.
  • Ask for help when something makes coming to school challenging.

Every school day is an opportunity to discover something new, build friendships, and develop skills for the future.

Let's make November count! Show Up, Step Up, and Show Out!
