Volunteers Needed

5th Grade Field Day

Fifth graders will celebrate the end of the school year with a Field Day on Monday, June 15th at Sakai. There will be 18 stations set up outside for classes to rotate through from 12:00 -1:30 pm.

Volunteers will arrive to Sakai by 11:15 am and get directions and supplies on their assigned station. We need at least 25 volunteers to make this event run smoothly!  Your help is greatly needed to make this a success.  Please sign up here.

Please remember that all volunteers who help in the classroom, on field trips, and other various activities must be cleared by the district: Volunteering with BISD. The approval process can take up to two weeks. Once approved, you are ready to volunteer and your approval is valid for two years.

Please bring your driver's license or id each time you sign into any school in the district.

Moving Families

A reminder for families that are moving over the summer!

If you are not returning to BISD schools in the fall, please contact the office at 206-780-6500 to inform us of your plans. Thank you so much.

Are you missing a coat or lunch box?

Our lost and found is overflowing!
Please remind students to check the lost and found to see if any of the coats, lunch boxes and water bottles belong to your student.

We also have several electronic devices, keys, eye glasses and other small items.

All items will be donated at the end of the school year.

Woodward News

WMS Summer Reading 2026-2027 Incoming 7th Graders

To encourage a love of reading, we invite all middle school students to read at least one to two books. We want students to enjoy this free choice reading opportunity. As a department, we encourage students to participate in Kitsap Regional Library’s (KRL) Summer Learning program. Summer learning at KRL is a fun opportunity to discover new books, enjoy our local library, and participate in engaging summer activities. This summer reading is an opportunity for you to choose your own books.

To participate in the KRL summer learning program:
  1. June 1st- Pick up a summer reading tracker in your English class, school library, or at the Bainbridge branch of Kitsap Regional Library. You can also sign up in class if a KRL librarian visits your ELA class or school library.
  2. Read 10 hours. Fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, manga, ebooks all count for your hours.
  3. Bring your completed tracker to the Bainbridge KRL branch by August 31st to show that you have finished. We will take care of the rest! Turn in your tracker when you are done.
  • You can pick out a free book if you read for 10 hours.
  • If you read 10 hours and decide to read more for the 100 hours, bring your tracker in to be checked and turn it in when you are done. If you read 100 hours, you can get the free limited edition shirt.
At the end of summer, arrive at school with a list of the books you read. List the title and author for each one.

For our rising 6th graders, it’s time to start thinking about sports and clubs at Woodward!

Before and after school clubs can be joined throughout the year and include Builders Club, A/V Club, Culinary Club, Speech and Debate, Math Team, BIPOC, Chess Club, Ally Club, D&D Club, and Drama Club, to name a few.

Woodward also offers numerous short season sports through their athletic department for all 7th and 8th graders on the island, including students at private schools and choice programs.

Fall: Coed Track and Field and Girls Softball
Winter: Boys Basketball and Girls Basketball
Spring: Cross Country, Girls Volleyball, Football Training

** For all sports offered through BISD, students need to register through Final Forms and have an up-to-date medical clearance form on file. Pediatricians get extremely backlogged with these requests in August so it’s best to start this process early this Summer. Physicals are valid for 2 years.

Join the BISD Instructional Technology Advisory Council

BISD is forming a Instructional Technology Advisory Council to help guide thoughtful conversations and recommendations around the intentional use of technology in our classrooms and schools.

This committee will bring together staff, families, and community members to explore how technology can best support teaching, learning, student well-being, and balanced classroom experiences.

If you are interested in helping shape future conversations and decisions around educational technology in BISD, we encourage you to apply and be part of this important work.

Attendance Matters: Finish Strong in May

As we head into the final weeks of the school year, it’s very common for children to feel tired and a bit less motivated—especially as summer gets closer! While the end-of-year slump is normal, coming to school each day still makes a big difference for your child’s learning, routines, and confidence.

A few simple ideas can help make mornings smoother and support strong attendance through the finish line:

  • Keep a consistent bedtime and morning routine
  • Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before
  • Talk about something your child can look forward to at school each day
  • Offer encouragement and celebrate the effort of showing up
  • Take it one day at a time—every day counts!

Thank you for partnering with us to help your child push through the last stretch of the school year and finish strong. Your support at home makes a big difference!

It’s ABC time! Register for the 2026-27 School Year

If you know your student will not attend BISD in the fall, please let us know by contacting the school office, or by sending an email to: studentrecords@bisd303.org with your educational plan so that we may adjust our records accordingly.

Our Annual Back to school Check-in process (ABC) is now open and is available by logging in to your Family Access account. Look in the left menu and choose: ABC 26-27 to move through the steps to complete this process ASAP.
It should take about 15 minutes (or less!) to complete the process for each child in your household.

This data collection allows BISD to gather information regarding your students’ plans for the upcoming year. Having an accurate understanding of the number of expected students helps us determine staffing needs, class size and building capacity to better serve our students. In addition to this valuable information, it allows BISD to fulfill its annual notification requirements for public schools in Washington state.

The ABC 26-27 process must be completed for ALL students in the district whether they are brand new to the district or returning.

*NOTE: For students with more than one family, ONLY the Primary Family will have access to complete the ABC’s. Guardians of Non-Primary Families will have “read-only” access. If this is a hardship for your family, please contact the school office for guidance, or send an email to studentrecords@bisd303.org. All families have the ability to make changes to their specific demographic information at any time via Family Access>Student Info>Change Requests link (in the top right corner).
TIPS:
  • Use a desktop or laptop computer (if trying to use a mobile device, open up a browser and login to Family Access directly. Or, depending on your device you may be able to choose the “Desktop” version of the mobile app for this purpose).
  • Use the “View Full Screen” buttons when available.
  • Each step has a “Complete Step and Move to….” button. You must click that on each step to mark it as complete.
  • Optional steps: PTSO and Bainbridge Schools Foundation steps are there as informational only. Donations are appreciated, but NOT required!
  • If you make a change request that needs to be approved by the district you can still Complete the Step and move on to the next step.
  • If you think you have completed the process, but it is not showing as complete, look in the right column menu and look for the step(s) that do not have a check mark next to them. Click the link and you’ll either need to sign and date and/or merely click the “complete step” button….then Submit.
  • The LAST step – takes 2 clicks. “Complete ABC 26-27” followed by “Submit ABC 26-27”. As soon as you “Submit” you will get a notice and email that the process has been completed.
  • Forgot or did not receive your Skyward username and/or password? Go to the BISD website>Popular Links>Skyward – use the Forgot Password link. As long as your email address is the same as what we have in our system, this should work. Check your spam if you don’t see the re-set email in your inbox.

If you need assistance or believe you have already completed the ABC’s, please contact us at: studentrecords@bisd303.org

Here’s to a great upcoming school year!
