We are so excited to celebrate the amazing Sakai staff who show up for our kids every single day! Middle school is a lot — academically, socially, emotionally — and our teachers and staff meet our kids right where they are. They're coaching, mentoring, pushing them to grow, and quietly looking out for the ones having a hard week. 

This year, we're bringing the Farmer's Market to Sakai this week — think fresh, colorful, and full of good things, just like our incredible teachers and staff.

We still need help to make this happen! Every sign-up and donation goes directly toward making our staff feel seen, valued, and appreciated — and trust us, they are so worth it!

Bike to School Day is on May 15th. This is the date for all schools in our district. Bike to School Day is a really fun day at Sakai and a good opportunity to reinforce safe biking habits and healthy choices. Here is the map of our chaperoned rides. If you can, please consider signing up to volunteer. Aside from biking to and from school, students will also get to ride their bikes at recess on a course outlined on the field (complete with BIPD speedometer). We need lots of help to make it a safe and successful day. Also, if your child would like to participate but doesn’t have a bike, let me know. We have received some bikes in great shape we can loan.

Please remember that all volunteers who help in the classroom, on field trips, and other various activities must be cleared by the district: Volunteering with BISD. The approval process can take up to two weeks. Once approved, you are ready to volunteer and your approval is valid for two years.

Please bring your driver's license or id each time you sign into any school in the district.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Please stop by the Bainbridge island Arts and Crafts Gallery to check out the Middle school Youth Art Show. Up until May 17th.

Approximately 140 students would attend Math Olympiad practice each week. During the year, 5 tests were given and the top scores helped to form a 5th grade team and a six grade team. 

 

6th Grade Team had 27 students who all scored well. Two 6th grade students scored in the top 10% of the nation, Oliver Warren and Diego Veeraraghavean.  

5th Grade Team had 27 Students who all scored well. Ben Arslan scored in the top 2% in the nation and the top score overall from Sakai.  Congratulations!

Tickets are being sold at a discounted rate of $25 plus $5.41 for taxes and fees. Part of the proceeds go to supporting our choir program. If you know your student will not attend BISD in the fall, please let us know by contacting the school office, or by sending an email to: studentrecords@bisd303.org with your educational plan so that we may adjust our records accordingly.

 

Our Annual Back to school Check-in process (ABC) is now open and is available by logging in to your Family Access account. Look in the left menu and choose: ABC 26-27 to move through the steps to complete this process ASAP.

It should take about 15 minutes (or less!) to complete the process for each child in your household.

This data collection allows BISD to gather information regarding your students’ plans for the upcoming year. Having an accurate understanding of the number of expected students helps us determine staffing needs, class size and building capacity to better serve our students. In addition to this valuable information, it allows BISD to fulfill its annual notification requirements for public schools in Washington state.

The ABC 26-27 process must be completed for ALL students in the district whether they are brand new to the district or returning.

*NOTE: For students with more than one family, ONLY the Primary Family will have access to complete the ABC’s. Guardians of Non-Primary Families will have “read-only” access. If this is a hardship for your family, please contact the school office for guidance, or send an email to studentrecords@bisd303.org. All families have the ability to make changes to their specific demographic information at any time via Family Access>Student Info>Change Requests link (in the top right corner).

The BHS Math Club brings to you a FREE workshop for kids age 8-12 for exploring math!

12-3pm - May 31st in the Bainbridge High School 100 Building Commons

We'll be providing some light snacks but no lunch. Parents are welcome! We have the capacity for around 30 students so we're looking for participation.
