Welcome to Speech/Language Therapy! My name is Courtney Fitzgerald, and I am the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) at Sakai Intermediate, the Adult Living Program, and support district-wide. I am so happy to have returned to my hometown of Bainbridge Island!
I was born and raised on Bainbridge Island and graduated from BHS (where I was involved with the Diving and Water Polo teams). I then earned my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Redlands (in southern California), where I also met my husband. I became a Speech-Language Pathologist in 2006, and have experience as an SLP in both medical and educational settings. (I spent many years working with individuals following a stroke and brain injuries in a small rehabilitation hospital in San Bernardino, California, then transitioned to various school districts in California and Washington.)
My dreams of returning to the Pacific Northwest became a reality in the summer of 2019, when my family and I were able to move back to Bainbridge Island. My husband and I have three boys who attend BISD schools, and in our spare time, we enjoy camping, birdwatching, swimming, and hiking.
